In conjunction with integrating ICT into Health and Physical Education I have been lucky enough to teach a year 7 ICT class. I have become familiar with the website/portal called “Connect”. This enables students to access any course work or course updates via the internet and allows them to develop their ICT capabilities on a daily basis. All of the year 7 ICT class course work and documents were uploaded and chronologically ordered for ease of access. Each student would log on to “Connect” every lesson and work solely from a computer with internet access. At the beginning of the year students were instructed how to use the internet safely and responsibly and were made aware that they would be held accountable for their internet browsing history. Students could only access certain websites and inappropriate websites were blocked.
One of the tasks was to create a video for year 6 students who would be coming to the school next year. Students had to research cyber safety, cyber bullying and how to safely and responsibly use the internet and then pass on this information to the prospective year 6 students.
