I have been able to manage challenging behaviour by establishing and negotiating clear expectations with students and have addressed discipline issues promptly, fairly and respectfully. My attitude towards behaviour management is “prevention is better than cure”. My main goal is to develop a positive student-teacher relationship with each individual student, in order to get to a point where the student enjoys coming to my classes and wants to complete work. When behaviour issues arise I can usually, logically and calmly ask my students what the issue is and what can be done to solve it. Occasionally further action is necessary in order to correct any ongoing behaviour issues, such as contacting parents and upper school isolation.
