Engage parents/carers in the educative process:

Graduate Proficient Highly Accomplished Lead
Describe a broad range of strategies for involving parents/carers in the educative process. Plan for appropriate and contextually relevant opportunities for parents/ carers to be involved in their children’s learning. Work with colleagues to provide appropriate and contextually relevant opportunities for parents/carers to be involved in their children’s learning. Initiate contextually relevant processes to establish programs that involve parents/carers in the education of their children and broader school priorities and activities.

I have been able to engage parents in the educative process by planning for appropriate and contextually relevant opportunities for them to be involved in their children’s learning. These opportunities for parent engagement have included but are not limited to phone calls home about progress, including positive and negative reasons and parent/teacher interviews in which the progress and behaviour of the students has been discussed at length. I have also encouraged certain parents to attend school sporting carnivals in order to witness their students progress first hand.
