I have used the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and advice from colleagues to identify and plan professional learning needs. I have been involved in performance management in which I have met with my Head of Learning Area (HOLA) to discuss my professional development as a teacher. A prerequisite to this meeting was that I completed a self reflection tool based on the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Within this tool I selected a statement which best described how I had met each of the 37 focus areas with reference to that particular focus area or descriptor. After selecting the statement which best described my opinion of self development in that focus area, I discussed each focus area with the HOLA. Advice and constructive criticism was offered which provided information and feedback on areas in which I could improve in the future. My completed self reflection tool is detailed below.
